Take control of your time: We have often heard and read many books and articles about time management and a lot of plans and strategies that help you manage your time, but despite all that we are motivated at first to develop plans and strategies, then our resolve drops and we go back to zero again. In fact, making plans is easy to implement.
Take control of your time
In this article, I will not put time management tips as much as I will explain to you what time management is and does it really exists or is it a term we are used to hearing and we believe in its existence.
What is time management?
Time management is the full use of time in achieving our goals and increasing our productivity and working to achieve what we want as quickly and as little effort as possible and also taking care of the things that make us feel psychologically comfortable, such as setting time for family and friends and rest as well. The concept of time management does not mean that we become machines that work all the time, but rather that we define our priorities so that we know what is the right time to work as prime time, and what is the right time for outings and friends, and so on.
But for a moment, isn’t time a fixed thing, how do we manage something fixed?
The truth of time management
Each of us has 24 hours in his day, no one has only 22 or 26 hours, but we are all equal in the number of hours in the day, so time is a fixed thing that cannot be managed, in order to manage something this thing must be flexible enough.
From the above, we can conclude one thing is that we manage ourselves and not time, so you need to know how to manage yourself and not your time, and this is precisely what differentiates between successful and unsuccessful.
Points you should focus on to manage yourself
1- Define your priorities
The essence of self-management is to be effective, and setting priorities is the first step to effectiveness and success. When asked more than a hundred CEOs, “Who are the employees who deserve a promotion?” The answer was “employees who can prioritize”
According to the Eisenhower model of setting priorities, you should pay attention to which box you spend your time on. Distractions) That square where you might spend half your day and then wonder where the time has gone?
This box contains TV, games, social networking sites, and all the things that steal your time and do not provide you with any value. The solution here is to get the work done on time or before it and be always ready and get rid of urgent work immediately and leave in your schedule an hour or two a day to complete the non-urgent work even Does not become urgent.
The third square is (Busy Square). This square represents the false sense of productivity, i.e. the time you spend doing other people’s work and doing nothing for yourself. If you spend a lot of time in this square, you have to learn how to say no to others or delegate it to someone else.
The last box is (the priority box) and this box contains your goals and things that add value to your life and development, such as training courses in your field, or learning a new language, your personal relationships, and building new ones. And this box is what you should focus on and add to your schedule daily so that you always remember what are your priorities that you should write in front of you.
2- Make an effort to achieve your priorities
If we want to make full use of our time, we must make every effort to achieve this benefit, as Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib said, “A work that strives is better than avoid that spoils.”
- Write a daily schedule of the work you want to get done and avoid being a tedious schedule full of tasks that make you feel discouraged.
- Put your schedule close to you, and whenever you find yourself going to the distraction box, look at your schedule and remember your tasks.
- If you feel that you are wasting your time, motivate yourself and tell her that the path to success does not come from sitting without work, there are many reasons that are an obstacle to our success.
Remember that you are the one who manages yourself, your life, and your time and that you will be questioned about it before God Almighty.
Outside life is full of people who don’t waste a minute of running to get the best job, striving to improve themselves, if you stand up and do nothing they will beat you, life won’t stop you.
From my point of view: time management is to achieve in the 24 hours that I have everything I can and to know where to use my time every minute and to be aware of my actions and aware of everything that is happening in my life and to work on self-development every moment and manage my time in balance with the tasks of my life, I do not forget my spiritual relationship with God Almighty, and dedicate time daily to my family, myself and my children.
You really manage your life when you balance life and work and don’t forget yourself in all of this.
