5 strategies to help you plan smartly: Have you ever heard that the beginning is half the success? It is already half the success, but it is the second half; Because the first half of success is planning in advance the steps of the success process. Let’s simplify these logarithms with a simple example. For example, if a person wanted to build an investment project, what do you think he would do first? He will develop a plan for the project and he will use the principles of project management, and then he will start the implementation process.
Here, he will develop a plan that is equivalent to completing half of the project and the implementation stage is the other half. All that remains is to use perseverance and flexibility to follow the implementation stage.
5 strategies to help you plan smartly
Now let’s talk about our strategy on how to use advance planning to reach our successes.
1- Where are you going?
Do you know the phrase “walking, but where to go”? This is your true beginning; First and foremost, you should know the importance of knowing what you want and how you are going to achieve it. Because goals that are too general will never do you any good. Don’t say you want to become an important person that people need and just stop at that sentence, but you must ask yourself what next? Do you know how people will need you, and why they will need you? Are you going to invent something great, or a drug that treats serious diseases without side effects, or will you be a source of happiness for people who can’t live without seeing you and talking to you? All of these questions you must know the answer to because you will not be able to reach a place you do not know exactly where it is on the map and you do not have any compass or “GPS” to help you find your way.
2- Move to the future
Before the beginning of every year, I go to buy a New Year’s agenda on my birthday on December 18th, and that agenda for me is the most important gift I give myself every year Do you know why? Because it will write my plans for the new year, I know that you will ask about the relationship of the agenda with moving to the future!!
The relationship is very clear because planning something should carry a vision of the future and you should not plan for the future while you are trapped in the past and immersed in the tasks of the present; So try as much as possible to see yourself in the future with its new challenges and move to the future and write your plans there, then go back to reality and start achieving what you planned.
3- Prepare for the worst
In a project management lecture, I listened to the story of the construction of a residential complex and a supermarket in a forested area, and that area is prone to torrential rains throughout the year, and this was one of the biggest risks of the project, and weather experts suggested to the project owners a specific date for the opening because then the rain would not be heavy, but the project managers planned all the bad scenarios that might happen to them. This actually saved the situation on the opening day, which witnessed heavy rains that the region had not experienced before, and this is exactly the importance of advance planning and anticipating the worst-case scenario; Because your success depends on your complete willingness to deal with everything.
4- Make three plans
In the previous example, the project managers did not develop an alternative plan to confront the heavy rain, but they decided that the first plan would be to withdraw water, and the second plan was to put large sponges to absorb water in front of the project entrance. Unfortunately, the first and second plans did not save the situation, and the third plan was to use a private plane to pull the water. The water was in very large quantities, and because they were willing to come up with three scenarios for each plan; With ease, they were able to find a replacement pilot for the pilot who had apologized at the last minute.
It is precisely for this reason that you must put the previous strategy “prepare for the worst” with the “three plans” strategy in one hand to save yourself from unpleasant surprises, and to be able to deal with all unexpected scenarios flexibly.
5- Be realistic
The biggest mistake some people make and that causes them to fail is to write their plans in an exaggerated way, and thus they begin to raise the ceiling of their expectations and ambitions, and they expect that their investments in the stock market – for example – will grow and prosper in the coming years, and they forget that the world may suffer from unexpected global crises as well. It happened with the COVID-19 crisis. That is why you should be realistic with numbers and with your goals and not overburden yourself; For if you let your imagination run wild and let it write your plans in advance, you could end up disappointed and disillusioned with yourself and your abilities; So please don’t.
Remember that the most important thing in life is time; If you want to succeed in anything, whatever it is, try as much as possible to use your time smartly, and know your capabilities because your skills and self-knowledge, and managing your time wisely will help you make plans and achieve success.
