What you want vs. what you need? … Being that I love to know more about the life of any historical figure, he transformed the symbols podcast into one of the most favorite German podcasts by al-Nabali and I have been waiting for him very much, in Symbols so far, the story of 34 great personalities has been dealt with or at least preserved their place in history if you differ with the description of one of them with this description.
What you want vs. what you need
Personally, the one who always preoccupies my mind and turns on him in my desire to know any similar character is the “common denominator.” Is there a common denominator between all these characters? Is there a certain pattern for them to achieve this “immortality”? Unfortunately, even if I did not record all the results and just saved them in my brain, and also because the data is not accurate enough, because many sources are difficult to rely on.
For example, the book “Zay Al Immortals” gave me a very positive idea about the 25 characters mentioned in the book, but after researching more later, I discovered that the book was excessively superficial and deals with very specific aspects of their lives and presented with a purely positive and inspirational perspective, far from impartiality and credibility to the extent that I classify it as a book Human Development is closer to being a biographer (and by the way, I doubt that Dale Carnegie is the original author of the book), but despite that, I can say that there is a common denominator that I am 100% sure of its existence.
The common denominator is that all these characters lived difficult lives or at least fateful periods in their lives were difficult. This result – whether agreed with it or different – can be based on very many messages, and anyone who promotes the Hustle or ideas such as getting out of the comfort zone or the like can take advantage of it. All of this is not important to me.
Personally, I am not interested in messages that can be based on observation as much as I am interested in the observation itself! Because it is because of her that I think on my journey to find answers I have discovered that they may be more important.
What occupies my mind about this observation, and if I think that it is a well-known need, because at the head of all the characters who may have lived difficult life, the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, I think lived one of the most difficult of them. And the lessons learned from it, therefore, I suppose that it remains a need that is not hidden from anyone, and herein lies the dilemma.
What do you want in exchange for what you need Who will win?
The dilemma is how, despite the obviousness of this observation, we see every day more people fall prey to the desire for a quick profit and easy and comfortable life! And how the most attractive marketing messages are the messages that serve to paint a picture of the easy, comfortable life and outrageous wealth! I am fully aware that the reason is that it is one of the most important rules of power, “He spoke to people their hopes and dreams, not their reality,” and that it is human nature. Different I can say that we all fall prey to the same dilemma in one way or another!.
Because I discovered that the real war will not be as clear as what I am talking about in the example I mentioned, but the real war takes place in the constant conflict between our desires and needs and that on different levels we fall victim to preferring our desires over our needs very easily without even We don’t mind.
In order to make sure that this conclusion is correct, I went back to see the nature of my expenses during this year and found that I was losing this war month after month, on average more than 63% of my expenses are Want! In fact, this remark was – despite it being expected – but it was terrifying because, despite my awareness of the general idea and my disapproval of it, it was also not enough for me to take care of it on different levels like my personal expenses!
And I think if I had enough data to analyze the same idea in different aspects such as the nature of my practical decisions, and my personal choices in very simple aspects such as what I choose what I hear, I watch, or even whom I talk to, I may also discover that I also lose in some of these aspects as well!.
The nature of the choice of verb
What you want vs. what you need? Hence the idea that I record my choices every time I am in a struggle between choosing to prefer my desires over my needs and vice versa in a system I called “The Nature of Action Choice” and I actually began to record the choice of my actions in different aspects according to the nature of the act when I was in a position of choice I think this practice will be useful for 3 reasons:
The first reason is that, after a year from today, I will have enough data to analyze and know the impact of the problem in a deeper way.
The second reason is that knowing that I am required to record all these data, I think I will be more vigilant to fall into this trap in the same way and that this will make me wiser in my choices. (I hope)
The third and most important reason is to know how I can control this effect and use it for better productivity in all these aspects.
It is important to make it clear that I do not do this with the aim of diverting all my actions to serve my needs instead of my desires, and I do not advise that anyone does this because this will certainly result in a boring and difficult life, but at the very least knowing the percentage of our choice of each of them – as I know it in my expenses – will help us more. I know How affected we are and how can I better control the nature of our choice of actions and even predict and improve them in the future because this will result in a better quality of life and certainly better productivity.
I’m aware that the idea of logging this data for a year may sound crazy, but if you know me better you’ll know that I’m already so obsessed with collecting and analyzing data in all aspects of my life that I participated in the article Can You Increase Your Productivity by Changing Your Day? My compilation and analysis of my sleep data for more than a year and how it was very useful after analyzing it, and therefore this idea represents a greater challenge, but I hope, after a year from the date of publishing this article, I will be able to share the details of the entire experience and the results learned from it.
Lesson learned: What you want vs. what you need?
I think that my search for the common denominator between the personalities who preserved themselves in history eventually reached me to analyze my personal behavior when you were put in the position of choosing between what I want to do and what I really need to do and that I was winning the biggest battle, but at the same time, I was losing a lot of smaller wars without even noticing it.
What you want vs. what you need? In my opinion, this is the most learned lesson for the relative so far in all of these notes is that it is very useful to look at an idea or an observation on different sides because, despite the fact that the first observation was clear and self-evident to the point of denunciation on my part, I was prey to it in aspects that may not They look just as clear.
Interested in knowing different opinions about your expectations for the nature of your choices as well, in the form of a percentage. Do you think which one moves you more, your desires or your needs?
