How to set up Mailchimp on WordPress?… You’ve probably heard time and time again that for every dollar you spend on email marketing, you’ll earn about $40.
This return on investment is an enormous investment, and this investment is hardly independent, independent. The science of adding a newsletter to WordPress is a few steps, but it doesn’t require programming knowledge.
This article will teach you how to set up MailChimp to your WordPress site with no technical expertise to start your email marketing journey to speed up your project and straighten it out for customers.
What is a MailChimp?
A newsletter is an e-mail messaging method that allows you to send direct messages to mailing list subscribers to update them on on-site developments or newly published articles or provide them with tips and news. Or to inform potential customers of recent offers or new updates on your products or services.
Because a large percentage of your site visitors will not return to it as soon as they leave it. The reason they don’t come back isn’t necessarily your site, your site may be excellent, you may do everything right, but most visitors won’t come back to you.
The reason is often that the Internet is crowded with competitors, and if the visitor enters your site today – mostly through search engines – he will enter to read an article or search for information, and as soon as he finds it, he will leave and will not return, and he will probably forget your site within minutes.
This is unfortunate, perhaps your site is full of other excellent content, and you may provide useful and competitive services, but since most visitors are in a hurry and exit quickly, it is difficult to market to them and highlight the features and benefits of your products and services. How do you treat this problem? Also, how do you catch visitors? How do you get them to remember you and come back to your site?
The best solution is email. The most important reason to add an email newsletter to WordPress or any other site is that it is the primary tool for email marketing and one of the best and most effective email marketing strategies in terms of return on investment.
Why is email a better marketing channel than you think?
If you convince the visitor to give you his email, you will open a direct communication channel with him through which you can communicate with him and keep him informed of the developments of your site and the recent content that you publish, and inform him of your special offers. By e-mail, you can highlight the features of your products slowly, over months or years, on normal days or occasions.
You will eventually persuade a significant percentage of your newsletter subscribers to take the action you want, whether it is buying a product or service from you, signing up for an event, or returning to your site and reading the contents. And most of all, you will make subscribers remember your brand and your site, every time they see your messages and your brand logo or your site logo, it will entrench your brand in their minds, and this is the dream of any brand.
How to set up MailChimp on WordPress?
The question now is how to convince the visitor to give you his email? And how to grow your mailing list as quickly as possible? How do you start an email marketing campaign? If your site is on WordPress, the best way to do this is to add a newsletter to WordPress.
1. Register at Mailchimp
The first thing you need to do to add a newsletter to WordPress is to sign up for an email marketing service, which are tools that allow you to collect email addresses, manage mailing lists, email marketing campaigns, send and schedule messages, and other services.
You may ask: Why do I use such tools, can’t I send messages to my newsletter subscribers myself via my email. Yes, you can send messages to subscribers directly from your mailing account, but as your mailing list grows and the number of subscribers grows, things will become difficult.
If you have 2,000 subscribers to your newsletter, it’s hard to send each of them a personalized message, every day or every week. This will take a lot of time, add to that the problem of annoying messages, or spam.
When an email service provider like Gmail notices that you’re sending thousands of mail from your server or mail account, it may flag you as a spammer and add you to a blacklist, and your messages won’t reach their subscribers.
That’s why website owners use email marketing tools like Mailchimp, which sends emails on your behalf to your newsletter subscribers. These companies have a good and specialized reputation, which is why email companies allow them to send thousands of messages at once.
To use Mailchimp, you need an account on it. If you do not have an account, create one for free from this page. Mailchimp provides many important services, such as collecting mailing addresses, organizing and automating marketing campaigns, and designing and drafting letter templates. Besides important statistics and reports about subscribers, such as their demographics, their interaction rates with your messages, and the geographical regions they belong to.
2. Connect Mailchimp with WordPress.
Many WordPress plugins allow you to quickly connect your site to Mailchimp and do not require any programming experience. One of the best and easiest of these plugins is MC4WP. It is a plugin that lets you add a newsletter to WordPress, create newsletter subscription forms, and connect your newsletter to your Mailchimp account. This helps to manage your mailing lists right from your dashboard.
Go to Control Panel, go to Add-ons > Add New, and type MC4WP in the search box:
Click the Install Now button and activate the extension.
After activating the plugin, go to the MC4WP tab in the dashboard, the plugin will ask you to enter the API Key, which is the code needed to associate the WordPress site with your MailChimp account.
To get this code, go to the API page of your MailChimp account by clicking on the Get your API key from here link under the API Key entry box (see image above).
After going to the link page, copy your API code from there. If you haven’t already generated an API code, you need to generate a new one. Click the Create a Client Key button.
Enter the name of your MailChimp, and your email address:
After generating the API code, go back to the API page. And copy the code as shown in the image:
Now go back to your WordPress Dashboard, go to the MC4WP tab and enter the API code you copied above:
After entering the API code, click on the Save Changes button.
Refresh the page, wait for a while, and you’ll notice that near the Status label a green CONNECTED label will appear. Furthermore, this means that your site has been successfully linked to your MailChimp account.
3. Create a mailing list registration form
- The next step for adding a newsletter to WordPress is to create a subscription form. Go to MC4WP > Form in Control Panel. Create from there the form that will be displayed to the visitor inviting him to subscribe to the newsletter.
- You don’t need any technical knowledge, because MC4WP allows you to easily create forms via the control panel. Also, you will notice a group of buttons (Country – First name…) click on any of them, and it will be added to the form.
- You can configure the messages that will be displayed to the visitor. This is when trying to register for the newsletter by entering the Messages tab of the page.
- For example, you can plan messages according to each event, such as the message that will be displayed to the visitor when registering to the newsletter successfully, or when entering the wrong email, not filling in all the required fields, or if he is already registered in your mailing list.
- The MC4WP plugin enables you to add a newsletter to WordPress with ease. Also, it gives you complete control over the behavior of your newsletter. For example, by entering the setting tab, you can redirect the visitor after subscribing to the newsletter to a specific page, or hide the form if the visitor is already registered. Other advanced settings come with the free version.
- At the top of the page you will notice a short code, copy it as you will need it. Or keep the page open to come back to it later.
4. Put the subscription form in the MailChimp
Now that you’ve created your newsletter subscription form, you can place it anywhere on your site. The simplest way to do this is via widgets. Go to Control Panel, and go to Appearance > Widgets. Also, you will notice that there is a widget called MailChimp Form. Add it to the sidebar you want.
Enter the title of the form, then paste the shortcode you copied earlier into the Mailchimp Form Shortcode field and save the changes as the image shows.
And that’s it, you have successfully added a newsletter to WordPress. Website visitors will now be able to register for your website’s newsletter. Once a subscriber registers, MC4WP will add their email to your Mailchimp mailing list for you to add to your marketing campaigns.
After creating a newsletter for your site, you can place the newsletter form anywhere you want on the site. But it is preferable to put it at the bottom of the main page. You can also put it in the footer of all pages so that it is always visible. Furthermore, you can also put it in the sidebar of article pages. Most WordPress themes provide ready-made placements on various pages of the site, where you can add the newsletter form anywhere you want as we did in the example above.
