Major world inventions have helped the world in attaining greater heights and have made things quite easier. It took much courage for inventors to discover most of the Major World Transforming Inventions. So many failed in the quest for discoveries. However, some others even sacrificed their lives and valuables just to get to achieve a discovery goal.
Major Inventions That Transformed The World
The ranking of world discovery is more of a personal opinion than a general opinion. Therefore, it is open to be countered. Let’s go through these discoveries.
Printing Press Inventions
There was a low quality of information available. Writers can only cover the scope of information their energy allows them to write down. The step takes for one to measure and outline the page layouts, and now thoroughly copy texts from another paper.
Johann Gutenberg a German who was in a quest to make money invented the use of movable type machines for Printing. Gutenberg was classified as of the Major inventors that Transformed the world, through metal block letter used to insert sentence and words. This era is known as Letterpress. The Letterpress gave room to the Offset Press. Offset Press now brought the Digital Press.
The Modern Printing techniques brought in inventions that made printing more affordable, accessible to a wide range of people. Modern Printing also gave rise to the Digital Age which brought the use of the internet.
The Invention Of the Light bulb
Henry Davy invented the Electric Light in 1802, called the Electric Arc lamp. In 1870, Thomas Edison was credited to develop the first commercial electric light. Davy`s inventions were a result of an existing step created by Italian inventor Alessandro Volta. Volta brought to light the very first steps to invent light.
Warren de la Rue a British Scientist also discovered a bulb that can use coiled platinum filament in 1840.
In 1850 Joseph Swan and Thomas Edison handled the issue of cost-effectiveness and commercialization of Electric bulbs. The inventors replaced platinum with carbonized paper filaments to be able to commercialize electric light.
Henry Woodward and Matthew Evans got an ownership right to an electric bulb with carbon rods in between electrodes in a glass cylinder covered with nitrogen. Furthermore, they failed in the commercialization and sold the ownership to Thomas Edison in 1879.
Thomas Edison founded a company (Edison Electric Illuminating Company) and got investors like J.P. Morgan, who invested in the First Electric generating station, that will power electric systems and lights. This gave rise to William David Coolidge`s tungsten filament of 1910, down to today’s light inventions.
The first flying machine was invented in the year 1903 by Wilbur and Orville Wright, popularly known as the Wright Brothers. From this invention came series of modifications by different inventors to get to different aircraft that we have presently. The Wright brothers made a huge contribution to global inventions.
Personal Computer as a Major Invention
A Personal Computer in this context refers to a computer with a processor and a storage capacity relevant for an individual. Furthermore, the personal computer was first recorded in November 1962 by John W. Mauchly. The personal computer continued to the next stage which was the Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs invention of the Apple I circuit board in 1976. Furthermore, personal computers left this stage, and the invention got to the IBM PC of 1981. From this stage personal computers went through series of improvements to the present-day personal computers we have now.
