Oliver Twist: Summary
In this article, we will discuss the summary of Oliver Twist. The story begins one night in a juvenile correctional facility, a scrawny woman in labor pains gives birth to a weak, pale child, then dies and leaves him to grow up in this vile facility.
One day, the children chose Oliver to go on behalf of his companions to ask for more food from those responsible for them, so he severely beat Oliver and even imprisoned him for his boldness. The next day, a sign was hung on the door of the reformatory announcing a reward of 5 pounds for anyone who takes Oliver from the reformatory.
The Undertaker saw the ad and took Oliver. But the treatment of the undertaker, his wife, and even their workers was no better than in the correctional facility and they deliberately beat him and humiliated him.
One day, after an argument between Oliver and Noah, the undertaker decides to flee to London. He goes on his feet and on the way he meets “Jack Dawkins”, who works for “Fagin”. He is the head of a gang that exploits young children in theft and pickpocketing in exchange for their shelter and children.
In the first robbery, things go wrong and everyone runs away except for Oliver, due to his lack of experience.
He is arrested and the police find nothing with him. The judge sentences Oliver to three months in prison, but the librarian intervenes, who saw everything and testifies to Oliver’s innocence.
Mr. Brown Law feels sorry for the man who was robbed of Oliver, especially after he fainted in court and takes him home to take care of him.
