The 2021 NBA finals series kicked off with the Phoenix Suns hosting the Milwaukee Bucks for game 1 on a hot Tuesday night in Arizona.
A well-deserved win for the suns under the leadership of Chris Paul
The two teams shot very similar field goal percentages. The Suns shot at 46.6%. Similarly, the Bucks shot at 45.5%. However, it was the Suns who finished on a high note in full time. Fully supported by their loud crowd, the heroes of the valley were able to grab a well-deserved win (118-105). The suns are now leading the series 1- 0 under the leadership of Chris Paul. The latter made his first NBA Finals appearance in his career, and it was brilliant. After the game, the American sports columnist Skip Bayless tweeted: “Now Chris Paul’s first ring is a foregone conclusion. Congrats, Point God.”
With his brilliant performance, Paul finished the game with 32 points and 9 assists. Moreover, his teammate Devin Booker added 27 points. In addition, Deandre Ayton had 22 points and 19 rebounds in the flawless victory for the suns.
A cold night in the desert
On the other side, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who made his much-anticipated return coming back from a knee injury, joined his teammates and showed a somewhat average performance. He totaled 20 points, 17 rebounds, and 4 assists in the loss. Moreover, Khris Middleton had 29 points for the Bucks. One of the main reasons for the bucks’ disappointing result is partly due to their poor free throw percentage at 56.3%.
All eyes on game 2 in the NBA finals
Game 2 of the best-of-seven NBA Finals playoff series, set for Thursday night at the Phoenix Suns Arena, is highly anticipated as tensions rise between the two teams on the verge of winning their first championship in the modern era. To sum up, the real question is who will come out on top and set one foot closer to his first ring, Chris Paul or Giannis Antetokounmpo?
