Today, users of Amazon’s near-instant Prime Now service got some terrible news: the service is being phased down. It’s not all doom and gloom, but…
In 2021, Amazon Prime phase away
According to an Amazon press statement, the business plans to stop offering Prime Now and delete the app “before the end of the year.” All of this comes after Amazon was involved in an Aukey-related bogus review issue earlier this week.
You shouldn’t worry if you’re a Prime Now member. The service’s key feature (quick, near-instant delivery) will integrate into the Amazon app, removing the need for two separate apps.
Sophie Landry, Vice President of Amazon Grocery, says:
To make the Prime Now experience even better for customers, we’re moving it from a separate app to the Amazon app and website, so they can shop all Amazon has to offer in one spot.
As a result, you’ll continue to get the same services. But they’ll be housed inside a single app, eliminating the need to move between two.
What services Prime Now offer?
Even though Prime Now as a separate service will phase down in 2021, customers will still be able to benefit from speedy delivery.
According to the blog article, what can we expect from the integrated service? It all starts with these words:
All in one app: shopping, tracking orders, and contacting customer service. Customers in the United States may shop for Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market on Amazon.com or via the app. Customers in the United States may shop for Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market by searching those shops on Amazon.com or the app. However, the experience may differ significantly by country.
As a consequence, following the merger, the same shops that already provide Amazon Prime Now will continue to do so. It continues like this:
Prime Now provides the same lightning-fast shipping that you’ve come to expect from Amazon on everyday items, gifts, toys, high-quality food, and more.
The two-hour delivery window for Prime Now goods will remain the same. Finally, but certainly not least: A pleasant shopping experience with features. For example, adding items to your expedited order until we begin preparing it. Quick access to your favorites under past purchases, recommendations, and products that are popular in your area.
Customers in the US may add items from their Alexa shopping lists to their Amazon Fresh or Wholefoods shopping carts, making them immediately ready for purchase.
So you’ll still be able to use all of Prime Now’s services but under a different name.
Deliveries will still be quick
You won’t have to worry if you use the Prime Now service. Whenever Amazon disables the app in the United States, you can just fire up the app. You can have your goods delivered reasonably quickly (it has already exited app stores in India, Singapore, and Japan).
