WandaVision The first two episodes of WandaVision, the new Marvel show, are out. And both critics and fans are loving it.
WandaVision it’s a fresh new look at the marvel universe. Something the MCU needed. There have been complaints that the MCU lacks character development for his secondary character. And that all of its movies look kinda the same. Well, WandaVision solves them all. With fantastic acting, a new fresh style (but still maintaining the MCU feels), a lot of romantic moments, and a story that promises big things coming along.
The most important aspect of Wandavision it’s that is a mystery and a really good mystery. We never really seen a mystery in the MCU. So this will be exciting.
WandaVision Fans are already speculating what comes next. Whit crazy theories based on the Easter eggs in the show.
I’m gonna talk first about the basic story of the episodes and then the theories and easter eggs.
So we start right in the action… and we really don’t know why. Wanda and Vision seem to be starting a life together in a sitcom style fantasy.
The style mimics “The Dick Van Dyke Show”, a really popular show from the 1960s. The black and white setting and the kind of humor.
And also the kind of problems that our couple face. Forgetting their anniversary. A classic.
The other style that the show is very heavily inspired by its “Bewitched”, also a 60s show. With practical effects in the use of Wanda’s powers. Just lovely.
And this is what I mean when I say a change of style. While some MCU featured very different stories and ways of telling their story. WandaVision comes with a unique look at what the Marvel universe can offer.
It’s also a huge recommendation to watch at least one episode of the dick van dyke show and bewitched. So you can appreciate the series that’s being represented.
The story’s really basic. It’s really a slow burn. It’s obvious that the story wants us to feel safe but with something wrong coming.
There’s also romance. And a really good one. You can feel the chemistry and the attraction between both actors. Who are really charismatic by the way.
They feel like a real couple, working together and never really arguing. Almost too perfect…so we know something wrong it´s gonna happen.
It feels like they know that they are in a fantasy together. But neither of them wants to leave it.
Specially Wanda. Who lost so much before.
Even tho we love the character so much it is obvious that there something wrong.
And that’s the best part of these first two episodes. The dramatic scenes were something it’s off. That’s where the series shine. It really feels like something really bad is gonna happen.
That mystery is also what make’s you want to rewatch the episodes too. It feels like there are clues hidden that you need to find to know what’s going on.
And for comic books fans there a bunch of clues and easter eggs that really show the dedication of the crew that worked on the show. You can see where the story is going, but marvel is known for grabbing comic book ideas and changing them in the movies.
So even tho we don’t really know what gonna happen it’s nice to see moments from the comics coming to the screen. And be like “Oh yeah, this is happening”
But we’ll have to wait and see what’s really coming and that’s where the fan theories come in.
It’s important to know that Wandavision it’s based on various Marvel comics. The Style of neighborhood life it’s directly taken from Vision’s, from Tom king. Where Vision creates a family-like him, synthetic.
Then there the reality manipulation aspect. That a reference to House of M. And that were thing gets interesting. In House of M Wanda tired of the mutant’s creates another reality where there are no mutants. And makes Magneto, his father the ruler of the world.
From there it comes the famous line: No more mutants.
Wich many of us comic book fans expect to see a variation to in the show.
Another important point it’s the fact that it seems like someone is trying to have Wanda have children. They’re a bunch of really small things that are trying to make Wanda think about children.
In the first episode, it’s asked many times why don’t they have children already. In the second episode, the magic show its all “About the children”
All clever little things to make Wanda think about having children. ultimately succeeding in the second episode where Wanda makes it happen.
The theory is that this is the reality where Wanda said No more mutants. A clue to this it’s the address number of the house where they live. It’s 2800.
In the Vision comic by Tom King, that we preciously mention, Vision lives in 616. Thus it’s the number of the reality they are in. 616 being the most known reality because it’s the main marvel reality.
Where most of the big events are taking place. So this could be a clue to what reality they are in. 2800 could be the reality that Wanda (or whoever it’s controlling her) created. And that she and Vision will try to get back to Earth-199999 (the reality where the MCU takes place).
And then after confronting reality, not the reality created by Wanda, the real reality (where Vision died and she has no children). She will go mad and destroy the Multiverse in the process.
But who has Wanda trapped in this reality, since it also seems like someone could be controlling her and making her do the things she does.
Here we could try and get information from the commercials. The show has a really short commercial-like on TV with various references to previous MCU moments. in the form of some kind of product.
The first one is a Stark industry toaster commercial. Here we can see a toaster with a red light slowly starting to tick like a bomb. This is a reference to Wanda and her brother’s father’s terrific death.
In Age of Ultron, we discover that Wanda’s father died when a Stark’industrys Missile crashed the building where they lived. And they waited 2 days for the second missile to explode.
The second commercial it’s about a Hydra watch. Called Strucker, which is also the name of the Hydra scientist who in the movies gave the powers to Wanda and his brother.
Both of the commercials seem to be very familiar with the story of Wanda. So the theory here it’s that they are memories of Wanda. Which she constantly revives in her head.
Another company like Hydra and Stark industries that could be behind this its SWORD. Who we can see out of the reality that Wanda created.
Though it seems unlikely because we can see them trying to communicate with Wanda. And looks like they are trying to get people inside Wanda’s reality. With the likes of the Bee man that can be seen at the end of the second episode.
Who has a SWORD logo in the back? Just before Wanda says No, and snap time back to the moment before they see this man.
This Snap-in time could mean that Wanda has power over this reality and that she is the one causing everything.
Like I said It all feels like clues coming together to discover a mystery. We don’t really know anything for sure yet.
But it looks to be really fun.
Then what are some of the clues you spotted?
