Many moms would agree with me that turning to pasta is one of the easiest ways to rustle up dinner. It is easy to prepare and is satisfying for the stomach. Pasta meals are most useful especially on days that require you to be in the office for a longer time. What I like most about pasta is that you can throw in plenty of combinations of herbs to it. My favorite herb of all of them is the basil. Below you will find the steps I usually follow to come up with a good Hot and Spicy Tuna Basil.
Of course, you will need to prepare your spices first so you don’t end up hurrying through the entire cooking process. I normally prepare only minced garlic and onion, sliced tomatoes, and a handful of fresh basil leaves. The next step includes slicing your spices, and most especially, your basil leaves. These will give your pasta a delightful taste and your kitchen a lovely smell your children will remember fondly. You will need to slice the above ingredients into your desired size and set them aside.
Do not forget to take a can or two of hot and spicy tuna out. Any brand will do. Set them aside until when you use them later on. You will also need about 500ml of Nestle Cream and shredded cheese. Set all aside for later.
COOKING THE PASTA NOODLES
Boil water to submerge the pasta noodles. I make sure to put a tablespoon of salt and oil into the boiling water before adding the noodles. then cook the noodles according to the instructions on the back of the pack. It usually takes only about 15 to 20 minutes to cook pasta noodles, but again read the instructions on the back of the pack it comes with.
MAKING THE SAUCE
While waiting for your pasta to heat, you may already start sautéing your spices on another pan. Heat a tablespoon of oil on a frying pan and toss in the sliced spices once it’s hot. Sauté the garlic, onion, and tomatoes together. Once your garlic turns golden brown, you may then pour two cans of hot and spicy tuna into the pan. Add 500 ml of Nestle Cream and reduce your stove to medium heat and let it simmer. Gradually add the shredded cheese, letting it melt before adding more to the pan. Reduce heat to a low degree and cover the pan.
Drain the water from the pan which has your pasta noodles and bath them in lukewarm water to keep them from sticking to each other. Pour the white sauce into the noodles, or the other way around if you like. on low heat, continuously mix the sauce and pasta. Add salt and pepper to taste. Just before you take the pasta out of the pan, add your sliced basil leaves and cover the pan after mixing them all.
Serve with garlic or just plain bread.
