Does anyone really listen to blues anymore? Does anyone really dig their taste to this music anymore? has anyone knowledge the blues anymore? Well if you love music, you should know.
Every genre, every piece of modern music, every type of song, there’s blues inside them. Because it is the root of every musical movement that’s gracing our ears now. It’s a forgotten thing to mention, but a necessary aspect to learn.
Every guitarist learned the concept of scales from the blues, so does the bassists. each drummer learned their 2/4 or 6/8 beats through blues rhythms. all the organ players or pianists learned their musical notes and scales rooting from the blues.
Every jazz musician, every metalhead, every rock&roll icons, every R&B artist, all of them took a stepping stone from the blues genre.
It’s hard to imagine the world without the blues. There wouldn’t be The Great Jimi Hendrix if it weren’t the blues. The same goes for the Rolling Stones or even The Beatles. There wouldn’t be any rock and Roll genres at all if the blues didn’t exist in our plain life. Because all in all, like Muddy Waters, said, “The Blues had a baby, they named it Rock and Roll.” Indeed, Mr. Waters, we are all the children of the blues.
So what exactly are we talking about here? Why would I repeat the same word over and over again if anyone doesn’t even know what does that mean? Why would anyone even care? Well here, let me give you a heads up.
the blues origins:
The blues originated from a movement created by the African-American people back in the earlier years of the 20th century. The type of music affected by a rough, hard-fought, and uneasy way of life that the black people had to live through back then.
It is an expression of guilt, restlessness, loneliness, sadness, pain, sorrow, broken heart, discrimination, un-justice, and hopelessness. It is also an expression of happiness, enjoyment, blessings, and all other joyful feelings.
Ultimately, it is a beautiful expression of the human soul that’s being poured into a song. The theories on how to play blues Music are so simple, anybody can have that. But to play it with soul, to play it as it’s some kind of self-healing therapy, is the magical aspect of this genre. “Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.” -Jimi Hendrix
It’s a heritage that we have to treasure and a gift that we have to cherish. Because the blues is in every soul that graces the earth. The blues is in all of us. Keep rooting back to where you came from, keep looking back to where you belong. Until we, -not just as music enthusiasts, but as human beings in general- can finally say that the blues is alive and well.
