The definition of leadership varies from person to person, but I really like the way John C. Maxwell defines leadership.
“A leader is one who knows the way, takes the path, and shows the way.
Regardless of how the leader is praised, the leader can tell the difference between success and failure. A good leader looks at the future and knows how to turn his ideas into real success stories. In this article, we will take a closer look at some of the key qualities of leadership that distinguish between good and bad leaders.
1. Honesty and Integrity
Dwight.D.Eisenhower, the 34th president of the United States. once said: Without them, whether it’s a section gang, a soccer field, the military, or an office, there can be no real success. “Honesty and Integrity are two key factors that make us good leaders. How can you expect your followers to be honest when you lack these qualities?
You will only succeed if you adhere to your values and basic beliefs. This is not possible without ethics.
To be an effective leader, you must have enough confidence to ensure that others will obey you. If you are unclear about your own decisions and qualities, your subordinates will never follow you. As a leader, you must speak with confidence, show rather a humility and determination to earn the respect of your subordinates.
This does not mean that you should have a lot of confidence, but you should at least reflect a degree of confidence to gain the trust of your followers as a leader.
3. Inspire Others
Perhaps the most difficult task for a leader is to persuade others to follow. This is possible only if you inspire your followers by setting a good example. When walking becomes difficult, they will appreciate you and see how you react to the situation.
If you manage it well, they will follow you. As a leader, you must think positively and this positive attitude should be visible through your actions.
Stay calm under pressure and keep the motivation level. John Quincy Adams says, “If your actions make others dream more, learn more, do more and be more, you are a leader.“ If you succeed in motivating your subordinates, you can easily overcome any situation.
4.Commitment and Passion
Your team respects you, and if you want them to give it their best efforts, you must be passionate. When your teammates see your hands get dirty, they’ll give you their best shot too. It also makes you earn the respect of your subordinates and radiates new energy into your team members.
This will improve the performance of your subordinates. If they feel that they are not completely committed or lack passion, it can be a daunting task for followers to pursue their goals.
5. Good Leader is a Good Communicator
Until you articulate your vision to your team and tell them the strategy to achieve the goal, you will find it very difficult to achieve the desired results. Simply, if you cannot communicate your message effectively to your team, you can never be a better leader. A good communicator can be a good leader.
Words have the power to inspire people and make them follower. If you use them effectively, you can also achieve great results.
6. Decision-Making Capabilities
