I think every student thinks that what makes a student ideal? What are the traits of an ideal student? I had these questions in my mind when I was a student. At that time I didn’t know the answer. I asked my teachers and my parents. But their answers did not satisfy me. I think that those answers were more complicated as compare to a teenage student’s mind. Years later now I understand the answer. In this article, I am going to explain that answer in the best way I can.
The first thing is that only studying hard can not make us an ideal student. You should study hard but never think that good grades will make you an ideal student. Students including me think that grades are everything. It is not true. Our education system has given rise to this mentality. I remember that in school there were three to four very intelligent students. They used to secure very good grades. Teachers used to pay attention to those students more than others. That is the worst thing in our society. What they don’t understand is that the students who are gifted with intelligence don’t need this attention but the weak students need. This makes the students run after grades without making concepts and developing manners.
“Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”
I think the best quality of an ideal student is that he is humble to everyone. He does not get proud because of his grades. He always tends to help other students. A proud and rude student can never be ideal even if he is the best in studies.
Another thing is that students must have respect for their teachers, parents, and elders in their hearts. They can never be successful in life if they don’t respect their elders. Our teachers and parents deserve our respect. An ideal student has huge respect for everyone in his heart. He gives respect to everyone from a beggar to the minister. He never breaks hearts by differentiating between a rich and a poor person.
An ideal student owns a soft and strong heart. A strong heart means that he has the power to stop the bad things happening around him instead of involving in them. Soft heart means that his heart melts when he sees someone suffering and he tries his best to help that person. It is the best trait of an ideal student.
One more thing is that the ideal student does not get jealous when he sees people improving their grades and becoming a better person. He motivates them to become better. He inspires them. This is one of the best qualities of an ideal student.
We all know that no one can be successful without hard work. An ideal student is hardworking not only in his studies but also in becoming a better person day by day. He wants to learn new things every day. He puts his whole hard work on the thing he wants to learn.
“The ideal student would be one who was not working for grades but was working because he was interested in the work and not trying to compete with fellow students”
One more thing is that the ideal student prefers to make his concepts strong rather than cramming. He knows that making concepts is important. First, he understands the topic than he learns them. It is very important to become an ideal student. One more quality of an ideal student is that he prevents himself from procrastination in studies or anything he is learning. He knows that procrastination is the biggest obstacle in the path of success, and he knows how to prevent it.
“Never put off till tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well.”
An ideal student knows that cheating is a curse, and he avoids it. That is why he avoids cheating in studies as well as daily life. He knows that stealing is also a form of cheating. So he does not take anything without the owner’s permission. He knows the difference between right and wrong.
Everyone can become an ideal student if he works on it. Hardworking can cover the lack of intelligent but intelligence can not cover the lack of hard work. Be confident and never think that you are the best. You should know that you have a lot of things to learn. Study means to gain knowledge. Devote your time to learn something and be patient.
“To acquire knowledge, one must study”
