A Narrow Escape
As I stood there at the balcony of my house, looking at the distant sun gleaming and slowly emerging out of the waves. I started daydreaming about the adventure to come. At once, I was brought back to reality by the sudden thought of going on a morning walk. , I dressed in a tracksuit. I wasn’t usually allowed to go out all alone but that day everyone was asleep, I just sneaked out of my house. I hold up my breath for a minute. And my very first adventure began.
It was a pleasant morning I could feel the cold wind against my face. My heart was pounding out of my chest. I kept on relaxing. That it is going to be alright. It is not a big deal. I left my house far away, out on a track of nowhere, all alone and badly scarred. I was surrounded by trees and bushes. The wind was filled with the fragrance of wet soil and woods. I was so lost in this relieving and refreshing environment of nature, that I never felt before. So, I kept on moving forward and forward.
Soon, an old cracked and fungus covered board grabbed my attention. It said ”going far away will damage your life”.A horrific rhythm passed down my body. Fear crippled me, freezing every muscle of my body. I looked back and realized that I have covered quite a long distance. I was BEWILDERED. Where to go? mom and dad would be awakened? I didn’t have a cell phone. I came out without permission. What I am going to do? .I asked questions to myself desperately. I just turned around and started to run back…
While running, I heard some unusual sounds from far away. My heart was throbbing in my ears, loud and irregular, but I barely heard it as my mind was clouded with fear. I could hear the sounds of dry leaves being crushed by steps. Somehow I stopped and looked back with a lot of courage. Sweat poured down my body as I stood still as possible. I couldn’t see anything. What was going on? unanswered questions were whirling inside my head.
HUSH!!! a pack of wild dogs growling and coming near me from the restricted area that I just left. Terror sucked every breath from my mouth. I didn’t decide to run because I didn’t have much stamina to run faster than the wild dogs so I looked around for a tall tree. One, in front of me, started to climb over it. I tried my best to climb up as high as possible but my body wasn’t cooperating. I was able to see the wild dogs coming down for a thirsty human body. My teeth chattered with fear. Those creatures rushing down on rough earth looking here and there for a prey. I put my hand over my mouth to stifle a scream because I was scared to the highest level of fear, I wanted to become invisible and escape from this unwanted area. My life has flashed before my eyes as I saw those thirsty wilds dogs going back until they disappeared in the woods.
My legs were parting from my body, my kidney was ta begging for water and my body was becoming numb. I got down, looking for water just started running. All of a sudden I felt the drops of rain on my skin and the unexpected rain shower. It seemed a miracle. I wanted to stop and drink every sip of water that was showering on my body. Meanwhile, I was preparing my mind for being grounded for months and the scold of mom and dad but my mind was so terrified that every breath of wind was as loud a blood-curdling scream.
reached my house, I was so exhausted and frustrated from this narrow escape of death at last what I saw was my mom and dad were standing in front of me and my eyes closed……..
