TRADITIONAL TO DIGITAL
Ever since the global pandemic took the world by storm, everything has adapted from traditional to digital. The advent of technology made it possible to connect to people without being physically present. Thus, this became the preferred medium of interaction. With social media on the rise, connecting people became as simple as clicking a button. Social media inserted itself into our daily lives so much that entire businesses have adapted to using it as a form of advertisement.
THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN EDUCATION
The current pandemic has stopped a lot of things in life but there are a few aspects that must continue. One of those aspects is education. With the rise of applications such as Google Meet and Zoom, distance learning became the new normal and as education moved from traditional to digital, new problems arise. The most common problem in this new era of teaching is the excessive workload and the quality of education. It is easier to lose track of time in this new era of education and without warning, the students could be cramming up to four papers within three hours. Students might have a hard time adjusting to the new era of education but this article will hopefully serve as a guide to help students thrive in this new environment.
TIPS TO SURVIVE ONLINE LEARNING
- Write a “To do” list
This seems like a very basic thing to do but the purpose of this list helps you organize your workload and allows you to view which requirement has the closest deadline. Another purpose the list serves is a satisfying feeling of marking down the requirements you have finished. It only gets better when you’ve finished all of them ahead of time. There is nothing more satisfying in life than knowing that you have a free day tomorrow.
- Work at night.
Maximize the hours between 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM. Since online classes do not require the student to go to school, students do not have to wake up as early as they used to. The earliest classes are usually at 7:30 AM and some students wake up at 5:00 AM to make sure that they have enough time to bathe and eat breakfast but with online classes, students could eat while learning. This allows them to work until 1:00 AM and still retain six hours of sleep.
- Do your requirements on the same day/Allot Saturday as a day for requirements.
Going back to the previous point, the students have a lot of time between 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM. There are a lot of things that can happen in six hours. The best work ethic for the students is to do the requirements on the same day they were given out. This might not be ideal because students get tired after school and that is why Saturday should be a day for requirements.
No one expected 2020 to change the world this drastically. This period in time will forever be remembered as the year where the earth stood still. Though times look bleak and hope seems lost, we must hold on to the promise of a better tomorrow. The first step in building this future is education. The author hopes that this article helped you with your classes.
