Why Life is very unpredictable:
Life is very unpredictable: things change, people change. Remember that time when you thought that life will be really simple- going to college, getting a job, getting married, and then getting old. Well unfortunately it’s not so predictable. … Life is very unpredictable: things change, people change.
If life is predictable, there is no charm in life to take initiatives to develop oneself by facing challenges in life. Many good & bad thoughts scramble & torture you every moment, taking away all your interest in purposeful activity in life.
In the normal circumstances, you can predict how much distance you can cover in 2 hours, at a speed of 60 kmph, provided all conditions are satisfied. You can cover 120 km in 2hours. But how can you maintain the same speed throughout the journey & how can you predict road conditions including traffic jams? What about the physical & mental conditions of the person on the wheel, which can have an impact on different situations?
A vehicle manufacturer assures you 30 km/liter of petrol under factory test conditions. But have you ever predicted accurately, the mileage conditions for your vehicle at different situations encountered?
You have studied well & are prepared to face the examination. But what makes you answer poorly? Your preparation was not in tune with the questions asked in the question paper. Could you predict in advance as to what questions would be asked in the exam? Could you predict in advance that you had well prepared to meet all contingencies?
You have booked your travel ticket to proceed to Delhi to attend a seminar on a specific day & time. But when you were fully prepared, suddenly the flight was canceled at short notice, due to bad weather conditions or any other valid reason. Since you had a tight schedule of program & there was no other alternative transport at short notice, you were forced to drop the idea of traveling to Delhi. Could you predict this eventuality, in which case you could have planned alternative arrangements?
Parents had brought up their only son, to attain high qualifications & to get a highly paid secure job to come up in life. They also had their aspirations, that their son will bring name & fame to the family & also look after them in their old age. But ah! their only son had his ambitions & aims in life detrimental to the wishes & welfare of his parents. With all the comforts & lenience given by his parents, his wayward habits, place of work & surroundings made him have his priorities to neglect his parents, though not intentionally. Could the parents guess, anticipate, or predict the turn of events in life? All their calculations were theoretical with no clue whatsoever of the future happenings. Even though their intentions & actions were in the right direction, they could not anticipate or predict about their son, due to reasons beyond human comprehension & changing circumstances.
An experienced driver is driving his vehicle very cautiously & carefully, following all the road rules & regulations. But due to some unanticipated & sudden cause, he meets with an accident with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction, which comes & hits his vehicle, either due to brake failure, drunken driving or due to extraneous reasons beyond one’s imagination or due to some confusion & chaos in the road happening unexpectedly. How could the experienced driver anticipate or predict the accident in advance?
Parents had arranged their daughter’s marriage, after getting the nod from their daughter. The daughter did not give a clue, either due to fear of being questioned about the love affair or due to insistence from the lover, eloped with her lover, without informing the parents, just at the time when the arranged bridegroom arrived to tie a knot to the girl. What went wrong? Parents could not imagine that their daughter was in love with somebody, as they could not predict the thinking & actions of their daughter in advance.
A perfectly normal person, who has engineered his life for 40 years, suddenly turns cancerous & after 2/3 years of medical treatment, his situation becomes critical & no medication or surgery can save him. The only reason is that nobody knows or gets the hint of cancer until everything goes hey wire! If it was possible to predict in advance, the treatment could have been started at the early stage of the advancement of cancer to prolong life., but it was predestined, whether one believes or not. Even the doctor/specialist will also say “God only should save him, as we have done our best & everything has gone out of our control & knowledge”.
Suffice it to say with any number of illustrations, that nothing is fully under human control, even though our intelligence & actions can drive us to a point, beyond which our efforts get thwarted & severe jolt & restrictions prevent us from taking corrective actions due to destiny factor.
This sort of frustration, disappointment, failure, losses, etc., drives people to derive answers from unnatural methods, rituals, prayers, sentiments, emotions, good & bad omens, beliefs in magic & miracles, wrong beliefs, severe destructive austerities, thus driving one to get remedies.
Astrology, palmistry & related subjects can predict major events in life & forewarn, but cannot prevent the destined results. Medicines, rituals & remedial measures take back seat when destiny takes the upper hand.
The principles of “Karmic/Destiny” effects are well demonstrated in Mythology. Even though Lord Krishna could have prevented the “Mahabaratha War”, he demonstrated to the world that “Karmic Retribution” is the law of nature & even the divine influence or “Will” cannot prevent it. “Free Will” has got its limits & cannot overtake the destiny factor, which cannot be overlooked in practical life. The remedial aspects will get infected in destined situations. Human “Consciousness” is limited to one’s surroundings, but cannot commune with or have a rapport with “Universal Consciousness”, which has its say in the matter, contrary to human expectations, thinking & action.
Take the following examples to learn more about our fallacy & expectations
(1) A person destined to be drowned cannot be hanged.
(2) If a person is destined to live for 90 years, no unscrupulous attempts on his life can prevent him from living up to 90 years.
(3) If a person is destined to marry at the age of 30, he cannot get married earlier or later.
(4) If you have to get honors & laurels at a particular age, nobody, however strong & clever one may be, cannot prevent this happening.
Let us study the realities of advance prediction.
If you do not know what your destiny is, the results faced in life will bring surprises & unexplainable events in life, but keeps you safe from odds of life, as your mind is free from thoughts of what is going to happen next. It is a blessing in disguise if you do not know the results in advance. If you are predicted about probable good news, your mind gets relaxed & thinks optimistically. If on the other hand bad news is predicted, your mind gets upset & has negative repercussions.
Supposing a person is told that he may not survive after the 30th year, what will be his reaction? Firstly he starts experiencing slow death & becomes nervous, frustrated & impatient. Secondly, all his initiatives & actions taken so far, goes to cold storage, as he will not get the new initiative to sustain the efforts made so far, due to dejection & thought of oncoming incident of a death. He surely does not die before reaching 30 but undergoes torment & unnecessary worries about the future. A person with a strong mind & detached in life may just ignore the prediction & attend to his normal activities. But a week person cannot stand the test.
In the interests of a normal life, it is always safe not to know future events in advance, as it will have a mixed bag of good & bad. If you are not mentally strong to face adversities, advance information will be fuel to fire. Even a mentally strong person cannot withstand shocking news when his mind is in its low ebb & the message is triggered at the wrong moment.
If a person concentrates on duties & responsibilities & remains unconcerned about the results with equanimity of mind, then he will be the happiest person in the world.
The advanced prediction comes basically from the study of astrology. It should be noted that astrology shows trends & directions in life for happening of an event. With many “If’s” & “But’s” in prediction methods & considering our own small & insignificant place in this Universe, all the predictions will have their limits based on several known & unknown factors. Giving too much emphasis & importance to it is like trying to unfold the secrets of “Nature” of “Super Consciousness”, beyond the reach of humanity.
(1) If life is predictable, then life becomes complicated & takes away the initiative & drive required to propel life.
(2) Too much dependent on predictions will ruin the weak-minded person, if things are not taken in the right perspective.
(3) Equanimity of mind with good & bad results in life lifts the person high
