Player Transfer: Chelsea rival Arsenal for Man City defender’s signature
Chelsea and Arsenal are two London clubs always in a fight over bragging rights. Their rivalry does ignite fierce competition which has recorded classic football matches in the past. Over the years this rivalry on the pitch has been extended to their fans. Consequently, there is always a debate which team is better in terms of virtually everything.
In the current seton up, the two clubs are being managed by two young coaches who have just taken the rein of affairs. Mikel Arteta, a former Arsenal player, is currently the manager of the Gunners football club. Frank Lampard, a Chelsea stalwart is the current coach of the blues.
In the meantime, the two coaches have significantly shown interest in snapping John Stones up from Manchester city.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea is considering a bid for Manchester City defender John Stones this summer. Stones have fallen out of favour with City boss Pep Guardiola, and Blues manager Frank Lampard sees him as another option to his backline.
According to The Star, Chelsea may make an offer for the player in the coming weeks.
The rumour has it that Arsenal is interested in the player. On the contrary, the latest reports highlight Chelsea is taking a keen look at the Manchester City star as an option to address the growing defensive concerns at Stamford Bridge. This situation will potentially bring the two rival clubs at a loggerhead.
As often is the case, coaches usually do not come to the media to declare their interests in a player. It is more complicated if such a player has a contract running with another club. Having worked with Stones while he (Arteta) was assistant to Pep Guardiola, It will not be out of place to believe that communications between them are already advanced.
Additionally, Stones is represented by the same agency as Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta, and a source within the report claims that the defender is open to a move.
In another development, The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Manchester City has ruled out any chance of John Stones leaving to join Arsenal in this transfer window. Man city is not prepared to lose Stones to the Gunners after recently losing their assistant coach to them.
We will keep our fingers crossed and watch what the coming days decide on the future of the England international. Will he join Arsenal or Chelsea? Will he remain with the Citizens? Let us watch as the Blues and gunners brace up for a tug of war over who gets his signature.
