cricket, the only sport which brings many Indians together. May it be a get-together with the family, or a super energetic cheering with friends gang or for a mandatory Instagram post! haha no matter, you are a cricket lover or not. You would have watched with full joy at least for once.Am I right?
“Galli” means a lane, of course we Indians are very familiar with it. We have played numerous games or sports in our gallis as seriously as players play in international events. The most common galli sport is cricket. With a gang of your best friends and a cheer team cheering for you, this galli cricket makes it so fun! have you ever tried this? if yes, come let’s just see how we usually play this. or no? no problem, learn it!
The first step is to form a gang i.e; 2 teams with any number of players. But it is mandatory to have equal members, or you may face the consequences of fighting later! then look for equipment. We usually use bricks or writing pads, a chair etc. Even if you don’t have a bat and a ball, a writing pad and a paper ball are efficiently sufficient. Then you may have an umpire and wall to note down your score. Properly fix your equipment i.e, wickets, may it be with a brick or a chair or any wooden piece. haha you do the same right? Now, set your boundaries .
The game starts now. The rules of original cricket doesn’t apply here. You can make your own rules, own awards and rewards. And you can either end the game with super fun or a very serious dispute which resolves within minutes. There is actually no galli sport without any disputes. They make the memories.
Finally, galli cricket is obviously an epic sport as it is played by our fathers, their fathers. No rules, no objections, it’s just a fun and memory filled game. Ask any one, what was the best sport they have played in their childhood, many would answer cricket, and that’s the specialty of galli cricket!
I hope this blog took back to your galli cricket times. If not it’s not too late to start playing!
