With the number of Coronavirus cases growing across the globe, it is getting difficult for the hospitals and its doctors to treat huge masses of people all at a time. In order to fight such dire circumstances, India builds the World’s Largest Covid-19 facility in Delhi. Inaugurated by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Sunday, the ‘Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre is a 10,000-bedded hospital made on an emergency basis by the South Delhi District Administration with the full support of the ministry of home affairs in a record time of 10 days.
The facility is made to act as an isolation center for mild and asymptomatic Covid-19 positive patients. For patients that develop severe breathlessness and require tertiary hospital care, 10% of the hospital beds are equipped with oxygen facility.
The Central government is reported to be working on the installation of more beds in the facility, speed of management as well as analysis and operation that makes it imperative to explore extensive use of Information Technology. It means the E-Hospital software of NIC is being used to manage all medical operations starting from admission to treatment, progress, investigation, referral, and discharge through software. The patients will be admitted from all across Delhi through respective District Surveillance Officers.
The initiative of developing such a tremendous blend of Technology and Management in order to handle a medical emergency is truly admirable.
